Education is primary determinant for all around development
and growth of an individual. India has been a major source
of learning since ancient days. Today India has well known
worldwide educational institutes like IIT, AIIMS, BITS, IIM.
Growth of India depends on integrated development of the
citizen beginning with childhood and going right through
life, and the most valuable resource – indeed is education.
The basic flow chart of Indian Education System comprises of
stages called Nursery, Primary, Secondary, Higher Secondary,
Graduation and Post Graduation.
The Nursery is where the basic of reading and writing skill
are developed in kids. Primary level is from class 1 to 5,
in which children between six to eleven gets basic
knowledge. Secondary levels have children of age eleven to
fifteen and are in classes of six to ten. Higher Secondary
School students are in the age of sixteen through seventeen
and are in classes of eleven and twelve.
Schools are controlled by boards like:

State government boards.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
board.

Council for the Indian School Certificate
Examination (CISCE) board.

National Open School

International School
Primary and upper primary schools are found in
considerable extent, but higher education remains major issue in
rural areas. Government High School teaches in regional language,
however urban schools teach in English.
Higher education in India has different streams
monitored by apex body, which is indirectly controlled by Ministry of
Human Resource- Development. Many universities are administered by
states, however 18 important universities are maintained by Union
Government which are called Central Universities. Indian Institutes of
Technology were placed 50th in the world and 2nd in the field of
Engineering and is the best Technical Universities in Asia. There are
several thousand colleges that provide under graduate Science,
Agriculture, commerce and Humanities courses in India. Among these the
best colleges also offer Post Graduate courses and some have facilities
for research and PhD studies.
The National Law School of India university is highly
regarded, many of its students have been awarded scholarships to Oxford
University and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences is top
medical in the country. And Indian Institutes of Management are the top
management institutes in India.
The India Education System is generally marks-based. And some
experiments have been made to do away with the marks-based system as it
causes depression and suicides among students.
Distance Education:-
There are numerous Distance Education programmes both for
Post Graduation and Undergraduate level. Indira Gandhi
National Open University is one of the largest in student
enrolment with numerous local centres.
Education is an indispensable means for effective social and
economic participation, contributing to human development
and poverty reduction.
In India literacy level is still below threshold level of
75%, more than three fourth of the country’s male population
and above half of the female population is literate.
The Government expenditure on Education has greatly increased
since the first five-year-plan. The Government of India has
highly subsidized higher education.
